50 Mics The Next Cant Miss Event…
It was a night to remember, a pack energetic crowd, networking going on left and right, celebrity sightings and the essence of hip hop in the air. One would think this would define a summer jam of sorts but that night it was all about the 50 Mics tournament. This night belonged to the underground. The spirit of the competition was in the air as 19 competitors from all across the country were sharing the stage performing their heart and souls out to the receptive crowd while trying to impress their industry judges, Dame Grease producer extraordinaire, C.E.O of Vacant Lot Records ( DMX, Jay-z and The Lox ), T.P. (seasoned major engineer, Swizz Beatz, Wu-Tang Clan) and Shaneeka Robinson (of sandbox television and producer of Lil Mama Show on Sandbox Television) all of whom have the key to their destiny. Jamiss from Chicago started the show warming and electrifying the crowd, as Lenny S. (Rocafella / Def Jam) was slated to be in attendance to witness her performance.
Intertwined throughout the nights festivities, were Two Feature acts that came and ripped the staged. The first featured act was Najee of Jungle Tatics. His performance of his underground hits "The World Is Against Me" rowed up the crowd and dispelled the notion that hip hop is dead, but indeed it is very much alive and well. Sha Stimuli proceeded to the stage next with the crowed already amped, it was tough act to follow but he was surly up for the task. Commanding the stage Sha performed his classics cuts and as well as new hits from "The Wire" 1 of his 12 mix tapes set to be released this year. The crowd hanging on to every word knew that they were in a moment of history, that only few hip hop purist could understand and appreciate....With the energy at a all time high, and the feeling of hip hop in the air, sparked the impromptu performances by Sic-O-Syrus with famed DJ Bedtyme 357 and J-Hatch and even Dame Grease with his Lennox Ave Boyz had to get on the act.
The 50 Mic Tournament was a get a success and overall a great event. It proved hip hop was indeed alive and would make even the purist proud. If this event was any indication of what is to come from the next round of 50 Mics events. It is surly a cant miss
