Change is coming. We are on the verge of an unprecedented and historic presidential election. No matter which party wins, the victors will be breaking ground in American history and changing the U.S. political landscape. It is up to us to make the choice that will change America forever.
And while every election holds tremendous importance for the direction of our nation, the electricity surrounding this 2008 campaign is fueled by more media coverage, novelty candidates and celebrity interest than ever.
Where do you stand?
Too often young adults lose their voice in the political process and dismiss their opportunity to vote, as if it doesn't matter. Or they fail to see any real difference in the candidates, leading to a disinterest in the process. But No More! Young minds all over the nation, understand that this election is different. It is an election that brings the opinion and power of young voters to the forefront. It is a neck-and-neck battle and every vote truly does count. The young vote - in the past ignored and taken for granted - can be the voting demographic that decides this election. Youngsters have gathered in droves throughout the country to stand up and be heard, and this November they will make the choice that will affect America forever. They are proving they want to start being part of the future solution, now!!
To make such a decision one must know as much about the candidate's platforms, goals and political track records as possible. Therefore, Get It Poppin' Radio aka Da G.I.P. & L.Y.F.E.S.U.X. Television in conjunction with Didda D.I.D.-IT Production, NBM Publicity & L.Y.F.E. Productionz Presents
"MY VOTE COUNTS" 2008 Election Platform debate.
Presidential Candidates Democrat Barack Obama & Republican John McCain have separate and distinct ideas on the direction of the country. At a time when our country faces unprecedented economic divisions, war, an energy crisis, and environmental strife, the decision we make is crucial. This debate is designed to empower and inform the often disenfranchised and disinterested youth.
This Town hall debate will consist of Representatives of both major parties and focus on 3 major topics that tend to affect the urban and working class communities more than other groups.
1) Education
2) Economics
3) Civil liberties
We will also have a few questions from the crowd. Our intention is to have an audience of Independent, Democratic and Republican leading potential voters. An event of this magnitude will assist in educating first time voters or people approaching voting age, and engaging them in the political process.
The debate will be held at the legendary Schomburg Center for Research In Black Culture and broadcasted via video conferencing with various colleges throughout Queens and Brooklyn as well as universities in Atlanta, GA. The debate will also be heard and seen on both Get It Poppin' Radio aka Da G.I.P. & L.Y.F.E S.U.X TV as well as any other major local media outlets.
We will also have a special musical performance and influential guest speakers spanning politics and entertainment.
